Harold Edwin “Pete” Brant, 79, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born April 17, 1934, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Brant was the son of the late Curtis “CR” Russell Brant and Wilhelmina Anna “Minnie” (Mortzfeldt) Brant. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Curtis E. Brant, 2002. A United States Army Veteran, Pete retired from Potomac Edison with 30 years of service. 

He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. Pete was also a member of the Potomac Lodge #100 A.F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite having recently received a 40-year pin, and the Ali Ghan Shrine Club. He also belonged to the Ali Ghan Drum and Bugle Corps. Pete played the drums/bugle and later led the Corps. When he could no longer march, Pete drove the truck to pull the band float in the parades. Sometimes he drove the band bus so that he could still be a part of the parade. Pete went daily to Sheetz, met his coffee buddies, Buck Taylor, Don Middleton, and Jim Simpson, for chitchat and coffee. He was also a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club

Pete is survived by his wife of 55 years: Irene M. (Shaffer) Brant; and his son: Scott E. Brant, Cumberland, MD. He also leaves behind his sisters: Delores A. House, Cumberland, MD; and Dorothy L. Schramm, McKeesport, PA: his sister-in-law: Bonnie Brant, Cumberland, MD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 P.M., to 9:00 P.M. The Potomac Lodge #100 A.F.&A.M., will conduct a service at 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Rebecca Vardiman officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
