Phyllis Irene Warren , 92, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Meritus Medical Center.
Born Wednesday, May 1, 1929 in Chewsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harold F. Lehman and the late Rhoda Pearl (Hoover) Lehman. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Alfred Warren.
Phyllis graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1947. She was first employed at J.J. Newberry and later at Pangborn and Smithsburg Elementary in the cafeterias retiring in 1997. She was a member of Christ’s Reformed Church, where she served as the Director of the nursery. Phyllis volunteered with 4-H of Washington County, Smithsburg High School Athletic Boosters, Smithsburg Steam & Craft Show Committee and was a member of the South Mountain Ladies Bowling League and the Homemakers Club. She was also a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club. Along with her husband Gerry they enjoyed square dancing with the Whirl-A-Ways Square Dance Club as well as camping and riding motorcycles.
She is survived by her four daughters, Linda L. Kline & husband George of Greencastle, PA, Barbara S. Barnes & husband Conway of Smithsburg, MD, Carol A. Ganley & husband Steven of Smithsburg, MD and Debra J. Eichelberger & husband David of Clear Spring, MD; son, Jeffrey A. Warren & wife Melissa of Fairplay, MD, nine grandchildren, Marc Kline, Matthew Kline, Brenton Barnes, Shane Ganley, Cullan Ganley, Elizabeth Warren, Catherine Warren, Darrin Eichelberger and Derek Eichelberger and seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Alyssa, Hannah, Dylan, Olivia, Caleb and Wade.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Scott Barnes.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 10:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Mary J. Norville and Rev. Don Stevenson officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Smithsburg Cemetery, Smithsburg, MD.
