Elaine Joyce (Martin) Milburn, 82, of Cumberland, MD went home with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at home.

She was the daughter of Jesse Clarence Martin and Edith Florence (Drake) Martin. Elaine was born on July 17, 1940 in Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Eugene Hayes Martin, and twin granddaughters Valerie Felisha Milburn and Megan Carissa Milburn.

Elaine was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in 1958. She was a member of the Junior and Senior High School Band. She played the bells. Following graduation, she was employed by the control billing department of Potomac Edison. Later, she was transferred to the main customer service office where she remained until her retirement in 1996. Elaine enjoyed attending luncheons with her high school and retirement friends.

Elaine was a member of Elliott Memorial Methodist Church but also attended Christ United Methodist Church. Most recently she attended Freedom Christian Church where she was a member of the Finishing Strong Senior Group. She was also a member of the Poomac Edison Forerunners Club.

Elaine received much joy tending to her flower gardens. She exhibited many types of flowers in the Allegany County Fair each year. She received many awards, ribbons and recognition for her many varieties of flowers. In 2016 she was on the Cumberland Gardens Tour and the Let’s Beautify Cumberland Tour. She enjoyed working in her gardens and gave cuttings to anyone who asked.

Elaine and her husband, Bernard enjoyed square dancing since 1971. Together they made many wonderful friendships and enjoyed special dinners with good friends, Dave Ludewig and Linda Roberts. They participated in various dance competitions and received many recognitions. She enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets with her best friend, Marna Morris. She enjoyed attending her family reunions and get-togethers with family and friends. She loved playing cards and dominoes with the girls. She most always won. Elaine will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity to others.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Bernard Rosewell Milburn, whom she wed on October 29, 1960; two sons Bernard Quintin Milburn and wife Lisa, and Rodney Wayne Milburn and wife Valerie, three grandsons Shawn Milburn, Travis Milburn and Jaxon Milburn and one granddaughter Claire Milburn; as well as other cousins and family members.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.

The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM, with Pastor Leo Lavin, III, officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD
