Robert Lee Jones, 83 of Martinsburg, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2023 while surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and family by his side.

Born January 14, 1940, he was the son of David Trundle Jones and Helen May Mitchell Jones.

He attended Martinsburg High School, class of 1958 where he played football under Coach James Cobourn.

Bob was employed for a short time with Penniman and Brown and the B&O Railroad before taking a permanent job with Potomac Edison in 1961. For 8 years, he worked in the line department and was later promoted to the Corporate Office in Hagerstown, MD as a System Load Dispatcher. He later became an Operating Procedures Supervisor that lasted until 1987 when he became a T&D Shift Supervisor. Bob took an early retirement when the corporate office was moved to Pittsburgh, PA.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 63 years; sons: Terry D. Jones and wife, Tammy, and Eric S. Jones and wife, Kimberly; seven grandchildren: Chad Ryan Jones (Melissa), Courtney Nicole Frye (Blake), Caleb Asher Jones, Conner Isaiah Jones, Christian Scott Jones, Corinne Sophia Jones, and Carson Palmer Jones; three great-grandchildren: Brelyn Nicole Frye, Trent Levi Frye, and Wyatt Mason Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: David T., Phillip R., John W., and James H. Jones; and one sister, Ellen Grubbs.

Bob was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church for 34 years where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Usher, and faithful choir member. In 1994, he transferred his membership to Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church where he also served in the music department. He remained a faithful member there until God called him home.

He was an avid hunter traveling numerous times to Colorado to hunt big game. He was also a lover of horses and after his retirement from Potomac Edison, he started a horse farm, Oak Leaf Stables, and would have his quarter and paint horses bred and sold to nice families. His horses were his pride and joy and was still maintaining 7 before his passing. He also had 2 companion beagles, Bradlee and Freckles.

Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at noon. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
